Ariane Moffat sings Cohen, Dylan, Pink Floyd, R.E.M, Waits and many others

Last February, Ariane Moffat released in digital form 8 covers of great anglophone hits performed for the opening season of the Trauma TV series, broadcasted byRadio-Canada. Since then, 25,000 digital tracks of her acoustic versions were sold! The second season of the popular series will be aired on January 4th, 2011 and to supply to the ever-growing demand, an EP compiling the best titles of the two seasons is now available in music stores under the title Trauma –Chansons de la série tv.

A little history of Trauma, as told by Ariane…

Over a year ago, as I was wandering aimlessly on the landing strip of the Sept-Iles International Airport, I answered an « unknown »-type call. On the other line, the very « unknown » Fabienne Larouche.

« Ah ! Hello Fabienne !  » (in a tone attempting to mask my astonishment).

And then, watch out ! The Larouche tornado takes full flight…! I’m listening intently…

To sum things up, she suggested that I record acoustic covers of the great, inescapable hits that inspired her as she wrote the screenplay, that would fit the image of her all-new series. I didn’t know at that time how happily this pretty virus would spread through my life.

What an exercise to interpret such songs, and what a pleasure to have access to the work of artists that have, for the most part, profoundly marked me. Above all, what happiness it was to work with my friend Joseph Marchand as a team, he who was my collaborator from the very first Aquanaute song. We ended up deciding to record an album in order to preserve a clear memory of those musical moments that we hold so dear. In all simplicity, through two falls and a winter, we put this intimate CD together, which will, I hope, be sweet medicine for the winter.

As of now, I am officially and completely in the early writing process for a new album, not at all rushed, but inspired !
